- August 26, 2008 Tenrox Introduces Automated Revenue Recognition and Reporting with its Project Workforce Management Release 9.22
Tenrox announces the general availability of Revenue Manager with its 9.22 release - latest version of the company's Project Workforce Management solution. Revenue Manager is an optional component of the Tenrox Cost and Accounting module. Revenue Manager defines project-based revenue recognition policies including time & material, percentage complete and fixed price scenarios. The Tenrox system then reports on project revenue and automatically makes accounting adjustments as projects are billed.

Do people use their accounting systems or Microsoft Project to track hours? Some do. Unfortunately this can lead to heavy customizations and problems. For example, there are several different types of contract workers. As a result, a company ends up having a system for billable time tracking, another for tracking time for the purposes of payroll management (because that application has overtime rules, leave time management capabilities, and considers part-timers), and a possibly even a third system which handles time tracked against projects.

Service Performance Insight met with users from professional services organizations, as well as both embedded and internal services organizations. While the needs of each company were somewhat different, the reoccurring theme by those interviewed by SPI Research was about better management, control and collaboration of project-driven work.
